Overview
Quadio was an upcoming free music streaming service built specifically for college students. I joined as an Artist Relations Intern in the summer of 2019, based out of their New York office, and transitioned into a Campus Marketing Representative role through June 2020. My time at Quadio gave me hands-on experience in user research, UI design, and grassroots product marketing at a fast-moving startup.
Artist Relations Intern
Recruiting & Research
Recruited over 100 student artists and producers to the platform. Completed 50+ one-on-one video calls to gather direct user feedback on the product experience.
Deliverables
Compiled research and presented a 60-page deliverable on student artists, music venues, university music ecosystems, and labels to the management team. This research informed product decisions about how Quadio would serve college musicians.
UI Design Work
Though I wasn't hired as a UI intern specifically, I asked my supervisors for the opportunity to get involved with the UI/UX team. I was tasked with taking an existing wireframe in Adobe XD and creating different layout options for a member list toggle feature — allowing college music groups to manage current and past members. I explored multiple approaches, from large prominent toggles to smaller secondary switches, considering consistency with the app's existing design language.
Read more about my UI design approach and see the wireframe options on my UI Design page.
Campus Marketing Representative
After my internship, I continued as a campus marketing rep at Cornell. I presented the Quadio app to students to increase sign-ups during the beta launch. I registered more new users than 99% of other reps, sharing the closed beta code 52 times successfully. I independently transformed user feedback into actionable solutions for the management team.
